The Community Leadership Council is a collection of community members and leaders with an interest in improving educational outcomes for children in Forsyth County, from cradle to career. Together, we're focused on:
- Equity: Building an equity-focused perspective through curation of a community equity series to include lectures, film screenings, panel discussions, and community forums.
- Advocacy: Elevating ideas that can change policy by educating, energizing, and engaging a broad range of stakeholders to become advocates and work together to shape policy.

Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2-6) is right around the corner. Attendees will hear from WS/FCS leaders about the current issues facing the school district with recruiting and retaining talented teachers and what they are doing to address these challenges. Table discussions will focus on what the broader community can do to help with recruitment and retention, so we can ensure every Forsyth County child has talented and passionate teachers throughout their educational journeys.

Representatives from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School District will review options for the 2016 school bond referendum. Attendees will participate in table discussions to offer feedback about priority items that should be included in the final bond in order to help achieve the district's goals of improving childhood literacy, increasing the graduation rate, and closing the achievement gap.
